What is E-Liquid?
E-liquid, which is also often called vape juice or vape liquid, is essentially the liquid that goes into your vape creating the flavour and the vapour. It typically consists of a base made using a combination of propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerin (VG). This is then heated by the coil in a vape device and produces vapour.
Vape liquid contains varying strengths of nicotine, from zero nicotine up to 20mg to suit personal preferences. As well as the base ingredients and nicotine component, e-liquid has flavourings added to it to enhance the experience.
Understanding PG/VG In E Liquid
You might be an expert in e-liquid by this point but if vape juice is all new to you, understanding the PG/VG ratio will help you get the best vape experience according to how you like to vape. Here’s a simple breakdown:
Propylene Glycol (PG)
A higher PG rating will give a stronger throat hit, more alike to smoking tobacco. Many people switching from smoking start with a higher PG vape juice like our Classics Shortfills. They have a PG of 70 and VG of 30 - this is referred to as 70/30 PG/VG ratio.
Vegetable Glycerin (VG)
Its density makes it popular with cloud chasers as it creates thick vapour clouds with a more gentle throat hit. A higher VG rating can result in less flavour. A perfect blend is a 50/50 PG/VG which gives you full flavour and a balanced vape, as found in our BLCK EDTN collection.
Choosing the Right E-Liquid for Your Device
Now we understand that vape juice comes with different PG/VG blends, it's worth knowing which e-liquid will work best with which kind of vape kit. There are two main types of vaping devices, mouth-to-lung (MTL) and direct-to-lung (DTL). Allow us to explain:
Mouth To Lung (MTL)
MTL vaping is the closest experience to smoking a cigarette. You draw the vapour into your mouth and then inhale.
MTL works best with an e-liquid that has a PG rating of 50 or above, and a higher nicotine strength. They also usually perform best with strong flavours, such as menthol.
Direct To Lung (DTL)
DTL vaping is preferred by those who like a more silky inhale. You essentially take a deep breath and directly inhale the vapour.
This makes high VG vape juice best for DTL vaping, often with a low nicotine strength and sweet, fruity or dessert inspired e-liquid flavours.
Vape Juice Nicotine Strengths
Vape juice gives you a choice of how much nicotine you have. You might be a vaping newbie and want the same hit as a cigarette, or simply prefer a lower dose of nicotine. You might even wish to have no nicotine at all - well that can easily be arranged.

How much does vape liquid cost?
The cost of vape liquid depends on the type you choose. Most e-liquids come in 10ml size bottles; this includes hybrid nicotines and nic salts. How long does vape juice last?
If stored properly, vape juice can last between one and two years. Obviously, if you’re a regular vaper, you’re unlikely to have one bottle for that long. An average 10ml bottle of e-liquid gives most vapers over 300 puffs - so how often and how much you vape will determine how long one bottle lasts.
How do I store my e-liquid?
To make sure your e-liquid stays full of flavour keep it in a cool dark place, like a cupboard or drawer. Leaving it in an airtight container is your best bet to stop oxidisation. Always keep your e-liquid out of reach of children or pets too.
