How to Beat the Flavour Ban: 3 Ways Retailers Can Fight Back

At Riot HQ, we’re taking a stand against the flavour ban to protect the future of vaping and the health of those who rely on it to stay smoke-free. This isn’t just about preserving flavours—it’s about ensuring that quitters aren’t forced back to smoking.

    The numbers speak for themselves:

    • 62.5% of vapers said they would consider returning to smoking if flavours were limited to just tobacco and menthol.
    • 81.9% of users reported that flavour restrictions would significantly decrease their satisfaction with vaping.
    • 44% said they’d be unlikely to continue vaping at all if flavours were restricted.

81.9% of users reported that flavour restrictions would significantly decrease their satisfaction with vaping.

These statistics show the harsh reality: banning flavours risks undoing years of progress in helping people quit smoking.

We’re fighting back by submitting evidence, lobbying MPs, and engaging with health officials. But we need your help. Here are three ways you can take action:

    1. Write to Your Local MP

    Your voice matters.

MPs need to hear from businesses like yours to understand the real-world consequences of this ban. We’ve made it easy for you:

This small effort can make a big impact.

    2. Encourage Your Customers to Write to Their MP

    Build a united front.

When vapers share their personal stories, it highlights how essential flavours are in keeping them smoke-free.

82% of vapers in our survey were former smokers, and many credit flavoured products for their success in quitting. Encourage them to advocate for their health.

    3. Submit Evidence to Parliament

The clock is ticking—don’t miss the deadline!

Parliament is accepting evidence until 30th January. Here’s how to get involved:

    • Share your experiences or the results of our survey.
    • Use the wording from your MP letter as a foundation.

    Email your submission to scrutiny@parliament.uk.

    Tobacco and Vapes Bill 2024

    The Bigger Picture

Vaping has been a lifeline for many smokers, with 97.5% of surveyed vapers using their devices daily.

Flavours play a critical role in maintaining this satisfaction, with 74% preferring fruit flavours over traditional options like tobacco or menthol.

Flavour bans are not the answer to youth vaping concerns either, with 56% of respondents believing such restrictions would be very ineffective in addressing the issue.

By working together, we can ensure flavours remain an option and continue supporting quitters everywhere.
